Last Day

If sex is not intersting in bed, it surely becomes amazing in a show case. One item of my to-do-list is ticked off! The exhibition "100,000 years of sex. About love, lust and fertility." was pretty much astonishing. You would hardly believe sex used to be so ambiguous - open and entrertaining, later secret and controlled. The exhibition includes some artefacts from the area of middle Europe including the Czech Republic and Slovakia. I was happy to find out that shape of my body was considered an ideal shape. Unfortunately for me - in prehistoric ages. No one appreciates it now:-)
Today is the last day of 2008 and it officially equals partying. Party on command though it is so much fun every year. What will year 2009 be like? Thinking of the approaching year makes me slightly nostalgic maybe pesimistically optimistic, thousands of questions arise...what new is going to come? is it going to be good?

Ježíšek

Ježíšek is the guy that brings us the presents we chose in advance (mostly). But even he can surprise you. This Christmas has been calm and peaceful and I have been enjoying it with my parents and grandparents, eating carp, potato salad and ham rolls, watching TV and sleeping (please note that I am not mentioning "drinking" - it is an essential part of Christmas!). Tomorrow we are visiting father's parents and sisters in New Jersey (euphemism for Nový Jičín; it simply sounds better). Wish me luck in kingdom of boredom and hypocrisy. However, it is Christmas!
I am on my vacation now! Awesome - no stress and I have a damn long to-do-list! I have a problem to prioritize a bit - Tutanchamon exhibition or exhibition about sex first? Ski helmet or ski jacket? Well, I need both...some clever time management would do the job:-)

Krkonoše "rulez"

My one-week vacation is gone. Gone really fast. I spent three days in the Czech most famous mountains - Krkonoše. We spent - me and my colleague - spent 3 days in Janské Lázně, which is not only ski-resort in winter but primarily also a spa resort in summer.
3 weeks before Christmas people don't care about skiing much. For the first time in my life I didn't see any queues to cable car, ski lifts and snow bars. I am not kidding you! Simply no stress. We stayed in a small two-room flat about 100 metres from the cable car - Černohorský Express, which takes you to Černá hora (about 1200 metres above see level). As there was not enough snow, only 3 ski lifts and 4 ski slopes were in operation. Pretty sufficient for us...3 rides - hot wine - 3 rides - lunch - 3 rides - hot wine...etc. :-) You can imagine how amiable the trip was. I switched my skies to snowboard in the afternoon. My first snowboard experience with ancor lift was rather tragic because I fell off, Dita fell on me and we were dragged few meters by my leg. It looks funny now but I though my leg was broken. Uuuuf - it wasn't. My calf has only been heavily bruised and I have bruises to show off now:-).
Second skiiing day we were ghastly tired so we drank more than we skied. One hour before closing time we rented children bobsledge to have a bit fun...we had shitload of fun! From the start we laughed so much that we almost crashed into a tree (imagine 2 adults on a sledge for kids) but second half of the track was very slow and we were awfully tired:-( Kids from a ski course passed us smiling! In the evening I fell ill and spent it in bed with hot tea (or watching TV). But in a nutshell it was a coooool trip!

First Skiing Trip to Austria

Don't think there is no snow to ski on! We (my colleague and her bf organized it) made a trip to Austrian Stuhleck ski resort (near Semmering) yesterday. It is only a 3-hour drive from Brno and really close to Vienna - only 45-minute drive (plus 35 minutes you spend driving along the highway of this cool city). On the way to Semmering we went through a couple of tunnels (through some of them even several times because of a tiny detour;-)). One of them represents a magic gate to a land of snow. When you get out of it - the land is all covered in snow, unlike when you are entering it.
Stuhleck is a small ski resort but due to fresh snow we had a good time, not only on the slopes (the concept of huts - Hütte - are really one of the best in the world). As it is beginning of the season, there were no crowds, which was amazing. There has been a brand new cable car, built during the past summer season, that operates really fast. At the end of its track there is a brand new restaurant, and brand new clean toilets with extraordinary hand-dryers - kind of basket into which you insert your hands and they are dryed within 10 seconds! No kidding! The cable car (it is a 6-seater) has an orange bubble shield, which makes the world look nice even if there are cats and dogs raining. Some of us considered it violet though. However, I award J&J with a certificate of competence for The Best Saturday Skiing Trip to Stuhleck!
I look forward to a next trip! ....which starts tomorrow (Monday). Being boyfriendless, I plan a few-day skiing holiday in the Czech mountains - Krkonoše. My vacation starts tomorrow.

I fancy ketchup!

My friends know that. What happened yesterday is beyond the beyonds. But here is a picture to prove that I am not kidding you! What you see is just a part of that nice painting I have on my kitchen wall now. Make yourself comfortable in the chair and the story beginns....
Once upon a Saturday, I went into the fridge for a plastic curry ketchup bottle I brought from Holland in July. I had it in my right hand and I was two steps from fridge when the bottle exploded. What was left ...have a look in the picture. Moreover the stains were on my T-shirt, jeans, socks, kitchen towels, table cloth, kitchen floor, carpet, spice bottles, kitchen unit and in my hair too! And I always thought such thing could happen only in the movies! Gosh!

Blond Bond

Presentaion of a Bond movie is always an event of enourmous cultural importance. Even this time but in vain, I would say. Sexy Pierce was replaced by red-blooded stiff Daniel Craig. Well enough! Quantum of wild car raids makes me think that James is extremely skillfull alpha-male, which he surely wants to be. And omnipresent - he moves to and fro and is everywhere. What is disappointing is this Ukrainian Bond girl, which stays untouched and is replaced by a red-haired dull lab-rat, later all wrapped in raw oil. Soooo lame! If there is any solace left, than I look forward to a new installment or I will watch Casino Royale again...while ironing.

Vincent in Vienna

Saturday was a trip day - to Vienna, with two colleagues of mine: Jana and Jana:-). In Albertina (www.albertina.at) there is an exhibition on Vincent van Gogh's drawings and pictures. We were smart enough to book the tickets in advance via online ticket portal of Albertina to eliminate the queueing time but it didn't help much. Courageous enough we jumped the long line to get to know that we have to stand in the line anyway. The reason I purchased the tickets in advance "kurze Wartezeiten" disappeared. It took us approximately one hour and a half to get in. The nightmare of queues still followed us anyway but once we got in it transformed into a crowd nighmare. 9 rooms stuffed with real art were stuffed with creatures of all races, nationalites and appearencies. No air. If you found 50 square centimeters of space and air...you were lucky.
In 35 minutes I managed to absorb all bits and some masterpieces Vincent painted within his lifetime. Drawings were brief, pictures colorful in general and meaningless in detail. That guy was very talented. Do you smell the shoes?
The artists whose "works" were displayed in the floor above Vincent (Austrian Art in Albertina - From 1970) were less lucky. At least some of them. Only The Red Mouse made sense to me, more or less. The "Micky Mouse" picture is huge!
Other quasi-cultural experience were also present - some shopping in Mariahilferstrasse (Jana and Jana bough a red coat and a pair of high green boots), magnificent Hofburg, coffee in Cafe Ritter and slimy waiter who spoke few Czech words: všechno? (when taking the order), chutná? (when checking if we like what we ordered), skoro deset (when passing us the bill).
We got home and it was skoro deset.

Do you Support Lesbiens?

I do! And I enthusiastically did on Tuesday, which was my Desire! I am going through Regenaration now but I Bet My Soul that it sounds like a Cliche. This band will never be Fameless. Apology but they played just for an hour plus three extra songs. Maybe because of their Strawberry Days, September Rain or the guys were simply Twice Shy. The basic mission is you Gotta Get Home...Meditating to Drift Off Sober. Don't use the Telephone. Lets Just Sing! The singer guy is Sweet Little Something, isn't he?
And the special guest category was represented by Clou.

November rain

There has been no rain yet! Sooner or later it surely will rain. It is still very hot outside; today, it has been like summer day. In the course of the day I am checking weather in Malaysia - Katka and Victor enjoy their November there! It seems to be pretty hot in there - around 29°C but with scattered storms. Pre-honeymooners:-)
Last week I had my Indian friend Prashathi coming to Brno. She stayed at my place for few days and tested my orange living-room sofa. In December she is coming again to Brno and this time she is testing a couch of Alexa and Sorin:-). She stays in Amsterdam (or more specifically in Weesp near Amsterdam) with her husband now but works remotely for Brno. I hope she will like the multi-culti nature of the "Tulip-land". Speaking of which, I haven't heard from the other flat-lander Radka. She is surely busy with her law studies. It is hightime to check the flight tickets and pay a visit again.
My mum started her new job today - a nurse assistant at a General Practitioner here in Brno. Hope it hasn't been much stressful from the start but first days are usually like that. Good luck with your new job!

Lonesome (just) tonight

I have been to sauna again today! This time just on my own and being there on your own requires double load of energy as you can concentrate solely on the swaeting and the heat. Water in the pool was about 2°C colder than last Sunday (I checked the thermometer!). Refreshing!
On Tuesday it is a public holiday here - October 28th. We commemorate creation of independent Czechoslovakia in 1918. Suprisingly enough, our eastern neighbours do not have a day off at all, though I think they should honour this day too. We don't refer to them as Upper Hungary anymore:-). But that was not the point! I have to go to work on Tuesday. Being pro-client orientated, we are exploited to do our best! My American client always emphasize they really really really appreciate what I do for them straight before they tell me I suck. :-)
There has been a time shift today! Means we all slept objectively an hour longer, which is great because I am a great sleeper. Yaaaawn!

Fresh new start

Some weekends are so relaxing! Like this one. I am going to splutter with energy tomorrow morning. For how long though?
I found my sparingpartner for sauna, where I went on Saturday early in the afternoon. With a liter of water in our stomachs (a liter each!) we had great afternoon in the sauna room with 106°C and then in a small pool with water of 12°C. Awesome! One beer afterwards totally knocked me down:-) I haven't drunk alcohol for a week and this is how I ended up after one week of abstinence.
Today (Sunday) I went to see my grandparents as it is my grandmother's 77th birthday! She would kill me if she knew that I published the horrid number on my blog! Even having said that numeral alound made her feel dizzy:-)
Next, I went to see my friends and their new born baby - little Žibřa. He is the cutest baby in Brno for sure - he seems to like me (do you see the self-confidence?) and doesn't cry if I nurse him in my arms. That's quite strange as all babies usually cry if I come closer. This time - no harm. I enjoyed him for whole afternoon. I shouldn't mention it to my mum - it is her top priority to have a grandchild. Not mine (at the moment), unfortunately. Admittedly, cuddling such a cute loaf is really nice. Unlike the responsibilities these "shit machines" bring into our lives. Therefore it is great to have amiable friends who have lovely babies to pamper!

Lousy mornings

Is it normal to be lazy so much? My washing machine finished washing an hour ago and I am not able to get up and take the laundry to the line. But if I glimpse the heaps of clothes on my living room floor that are waiting to be washed today, I simply have to. Hangovers really slow me down but they also make me relax properly as they usually guarantee free afternoon:-)
I picked up my new glasses at my optician's yesterday. It was hightime to buy new glasses - I haven't had a prescription for almost four years. We - me and mum - had really hard time choosing the "best" glasses. The choice is enourmous. Our hesitation is what we pay for living in democracy.
I go to take the laundry out...

A week or so....

I must admit that it won't be easy to contribute regularly as I don't have always time to leave a message or simply think of a few simple sentences to describe what is going on. Moreover, I spontaneously started to write in English, which is logical as all my friends do speak English more or less. On the other hand, my dearest mum surely doesn't want to know about all my adventures I guess:-). Dad hasn't bought her a computer yet so we read all her e-mails first and then we tell her. We function as reminders to her because we notify her everytime there is an email for her (which is not quite often as there are only 3 or 4 people - plus me and dad - who know she has an internet mail box).
It is Monday tomorrow...work, work, work. Lunches, dinners, a doctor. There is something ouchy on my feet. Gosh! I have to give up my fitness plan (again)...:-). Health first. At least I won't feel guilty if I go for dinner with colleagues of mine to my favourite restaurant on Wednesday. It is soooo yummy there! Food, glorious food!

Even kids learn faster!

This is apparently my first blog, my first on-line activity, my first publication event! I am afraid I still don't know what exactly it is but I got inspired by my friend Katchka who "understands computers". Thank you, sweetie!
