Nightmare Before Christmas

This is not going to be about Tim Burton but about a real life story. Unbelievable story, almost a thriller.
Some time in the spring of 2010 a man came to my grandparents' door and explained that they might have cheaper electricity if they signed his paper. They signed. Not long after that, grandfather realised that he did a stupid thing and called me. So I took some serious actions: I called the company to ask how I can cancell the contract and then I wrote an official letter cancelling the contract. Grandfather was scolded for what he did and also we besought him not to sign anything for any stanger that might come to their door. He also received a confirmation letter from the "new" company, which cancelled the contract. We were so relieved!
Nevertheless, this was not the happy ending yet. First warning arrived in September. My grandfather received a letter from his usual provider announcing that his current contract has expired and someone is coming to dismount the electricity gauge he possesses. This alarmed us so I called the company, explained what happened and everything was fine again. Happy end!

Last week I went to see my grandparents again and grandfather announced that he signed a contact again! This time not only for a new electricity provider but for a gas provider! too! I almost got a heart attack. After some serious reproches and nerve-wracking shouting on my grandfather I confiscated the new contract to study it. Shame on me - I was really shouting on him. The guy told them that they will have cheaper electricity and gas but still, they will be supplied by their usual providers (but the payment will go to his company) and that they will be able to save some money. Wow! As if the savings of 3% would matter!
Me and Dad studied their offer - apparently no reasonable saving was guaranteed and it looked like huge troubles. So I produced a new letter of cancellation and sent it to the new company. on Monday. To make sure nothing goes wrong I first called he gas provider to tell him problems are on the way. I was told by a nice lady that we have to wait for the confirmation of cancellation and then send it to the gas company and the electricity provider too. Damn! So grandfather is condemned to waiting for the confirmation of cancellation and to hoping it won't take more than 3 months.
Does it sound like a fairy tale to you? It is not a fairy tale! True story. Tell your friends. Watch your grandparents!
