I suppose I have taken enough distance from the January event that I am able to write about it. It was rather stressful and also disillusional because people are apparently determined not to be trusted.
My Mom came home one day and she found out that they have been robbed - a TV, Dad's laptop, a camera, an old granfather's clock, some gold (mostly item we have some emotional attachment to) and also some minor cash. Surprisingly they also stole a pillow, a couch blanket, 2 brooms and Dad's skiing jacket. But these robbers seemed to be nice guys because they left the car untouched though the car keys were in the hall on the hook. Amateurs probably as they had no idea what to do with a stolen car so they left it there.
If I take it from the other side, I am happy that nothing happened to my Mom because she is usually all alone there during the week and suddendly she had to cope with the idea that some strange guys were going through her clothers and laundry (in the bedroom). And consequences? Many. Czech laws are useless - it is better if we don't tell them our suspicions (and we do have some) because if they find the robbers they will be sentenced to pay us the damage (but they don't have anything so what they can pay us?) and if they don't find the robbers, insurance company will at least reimburse the broken window. The company will not reimburse any of the stolen articles because the insurance covers all possible things but does NOT cover moveable items e.g. TVs, cameras and all that kind of stuff. So 100K gone:-/
Moreover, I got rid off all my cash I had at home. I ran through all kinds of saving accounts because the Giro interests are really tiny and I deposited the money. No cash at home! And when I came home I close the curtains so that no one can see what's inside...
If you want to learN a lesson - watch your property! I thought this can NOT happen to US. YES, IT CAN!
